Meet the team: Business Development Coordinator Yasmin Boyd
In the next edition of our ‘Meet the team’ series, we’re introducing you to our Business Development Coordinator Yasmin Boyd.
Yasmin is one of the main contacts for our clients through all stages of gas, electricity and water infrastructure projects. She’s passionate about making our clients’ experience as seamless as possible.
Having been with us almost six months now, it’s time to hear about how she’s settling into life at mua.
Can you tell us a bit more about your role, Yasmin?
I’m a Business Development Coordinator, and my main responsibilities are establishing and maintaining relationships with our customers, so they know they have a point of contact if they have any questions or concerns.
Another part of the role is generating leads for mua to pursue and also providing leads for our clients as we like to work in partnership with our customers to make sure we get the best for both of us.
Despite working remotely, I engage with the wider mua team and senior members of the team on a daily basis to make sure that all our processes are in line with customer expectations and we’re making our customers’ lives as easy and smooth as possible.
What made you want to join mua?
I joined mua because I could see a future with this company and a chance to progress within the role. I also enjoy a challenge and I feel like this role has provided me with this opportunity to grow and learn from a very knowledgeable team with many years in the industry.
How have you found your first few months at mua?
It has been hard but rewarding. I previously worked at an Independent Connection Provider (ICP) and there have been a lot of things I have had to learn that I didn’t know working on the ICP side of the industry. It has been interesting, and I have enjoyed my journey so far. I am excited to see what the future has in store for me here at mua.
What’s a typical day like for you?
Ultimately every day is different. A large part of my day is spent looking after our customers, helping and guiding them through queries via phone and email. This can range from AV quotes right through the whole customer journey to the endpoint of invoicing for the asset value once our network is up and running.
We’re always keen to improve our ways of working here at mua, so I’ll often be looking into our processes and identifying ways to make things easier internally for our teams, which in turn will help our clients.
What do you like most about your job?
Being able to meet with new people when speaking with the customers. Coming from the ICP side, every day on the IDNO side is a school day for me! I love that this challenges me and helps me step outside my comfort zone. My job pushes me to better myself both inside and outside of work.
And what do you like most about working at mua?
I like how we work as a team and how everyone is always willing to go out of their way to help each other. You feel supported even though you are working remotely.
Also, working remotely gives me more freedom and helps with my work/life balance.
One final question, what do you like to do outside of work?
I like to go to the gym in the morning and spend time with friends and family on the evenings and weekends.
When I get settled in properly, I would like to see if I could start up rowing again. I used to do this when I was at university, and I really enjoyed it. Having more flexibility around work in this role, and working remotely, means I may finally be able to fit rowing back in again.
